America is at War: Although not appreciated by most Americans, the world in which we can expect threats to our nation's survival are primitive and dominated by the notion that masculinity is the aspect of the human condition that prevails in any contest for survival. The territory and terrain on which most future conflicts will likely arise are those which favor the more 'primal' attributes of mankind. For example, in America's wars on its own soil, it depended upon a hale and hearty youth accustomed to hardship and physical deprivation conditioned by life on a farm. During WWI and II, we likewise depended on youth conditioned to such hardship, although not entirely. As decades passed, president after president worried about the physical condition, strength and toughness of America's youth. The global Salafist Islamic jihad movement, led by Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and others and characterized by an amorphous network of Muslim rad-

icals worldwide, have sold disenfranchised Muslim youths the idea that they 'must love death more than life.' Many, including the mostly Saudi jihadi hijackers who carried out the 9/11 attack on America had been trained in camps in Afghanistan, Sudan, Pakistan, and surprisingly in the U.S. to kill Americans 'wherever they may be found.' Faithful Muslim parents are conditioning their children, such as the 4-year-old boy, portrayed in the picture to the left, to fight and die as suicide bombers in the worldwide jihad. Tens of thousands of these Muslim youths, upon reaching their young adulthood, came from all over the world but primarily from the Middle East -- heeding the call to violent jihad against the Soviet Union upon its invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980s. Although their contribution to repelling the Soviet invaders was miniscule (the Afghan warlords and their clans were primarily responsible for the fighting), Osama bin Laden created the myth that his jihadis, and they alone, had defeated one of the world's great superpowers. He and Zawahiri then turned their sights on America as the next target for their global Salafist Islamic jihad. A return to the time of the 'ancients,' invoking Sharia law, would surely return Islam to its earlier glory -- the return of the Islamic Muslim caliphate.

Anyone who has an interest in understanding the threat we face from the global Salafist Islamic jihad and the states which support it have these resources available on this website. Unfortunately NONE of our national leaders -- including those who wish to be the next president of the United States -- appear to have this knowledge ingrained in their minds. Indeed, we are leaderless at the highest levels of our government, including the Congress and the mass media. They are fiddling while America burns and are completely at a loss for formulating and reporting on the measures necessary to guarantee the survival of our American civilization.

Due to the success of our Eternal Vigilance journal of American Culture, we have decided to publish selected past issues on the original website on the Internet at http://www.newtotalitarians.com which brought you here. That web site is visited by over 3,000 interested people each week -- over 175,00 viewers per year. These viewers, including all of the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, Inktomi, Ask, etc.), access the site and read, download, and print the essays (over 164 at the present count). Google rates that site at a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 (search engines get a 10 -- the Washington Times gets a 4, national newspaper web sites, e.g. The Washington Post and New York Times get a 7 to 8). This auxiliary site gets a Google rating of 3.Anywhere from 150 to 518 of these visitors each day place our web site on their 'favorites' list for quick future reference. The major search engines access our site to copy some or all of the essays from 100 to 474 times per day.

Many of the accessors to our web site 'pass the word' to their personal E-mail list and urge them to visit the site and discuss the essays presented there. Meanwhile, as the jihadis were preparing their attack on American soil, America's elites were celebrating their version of Metro vs. Hetro masculinity. Young men parading around with baby 'binkys' in their mouths as they danced and pranced at 'raves,' young women of college were being educated to hate men at our universities' madrassas -- in their Women's Studies Programs and Queer Studies programs. Indeed, an aspect of American culture that has not been fully appreciated is its 'feminization.' The picture at the left is NOT an idealized jihadist's dream of heaven wherein he is immortalized and attended to by 72-or-so virgins as a result of the sacrifice of his life in a holy war against the infidel. It is, instead, intended as a depiction of the 'feminization' of American culture' over the decades after the Civil War. Some would characterize it as a consequence of the Industrial Age and its successor, the Knowledge Age. Others would say that it is a consequence of the growth of an advertising industry which has consumerized a market based on female conveniences and tastes and male attraction to female attributes ('sex sells'). Nevertheless, in spite of disagreement over its origin, the 'feminization' of our nation's institutions (education, churches, judiciary, mass media, etc.), including our military, has progressed to the point that one wonders where and how our leaders lost their minds.

Fortunately, however, the American military had cultivated a small elite force of soldiers who could meet the challenge presented. Our Special Forces and Marine Expeditionary Forces were ready to meet the challenge in Afghanistan and Iraq. When asked the question, 'What is the reality of modern warfare?' they had the answer. Real men actively gravitate toward the primal nature of their adversary even while taking advantage of the benefits of modern technology. This was vividly displayed by our Special Forces troops riding horseback with the Northern Alliance over desolate and forbidding mountainous terrain in Afghanistan. It was also depicted in photos (at left) when such men participated in the traditional national Afghan sport of Buzkashi with a dead goat as the 'ball' which must be deposited in the opponents 'goal' before it is forcibly taken away while on horseback. Here, a U.S. Special Forces soldier obviously relishes the challenge of this primitive contest. The 'warrior spirit' could not be better exemplified than it is in this picture to the left. Here are the 'warriors' who have proven themselves in the fight against the Taliban and al Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan.

At left is a Special Forces soldier who trained and fought with the Northern Alliance and who, with the help of American airpower, crushed the Taliban resistance and shoved them over the border into Pakistan. Below this picture is one of a Special Forces reconnaissance team which 'went native' in the pursuit of al Qaeda terrorists in the mountainous villages of Afghanistan. These are the forces which have planned 'direct action' missions against al Qaeda leaders but had not been granted approval for them from bureaucratic conventional force commanders whose timidity is increased by the presence of military lawyers who review and recommend against such missions. These military commanders did not want to see their careers damaged by missions that might go bad. "The fear of getting prosecuted for anything there was real. 'There's a paranoia,' said one soldier. 'There are so many lawyers.'" Such timidity, some might call it a result of the 'socialization' or 'feminization' of our nation's conventional combat arms.

Fortunately, initiatives were taken within the Pentagon to make the U.S. Special Forces command in the theatre in Afghanistan a "lead player in the war on terrorists by letting it conceive and conduct its own covert hunt-and-destroy missions in some circumstances." This initiative would cut the 'feminized' conventional force commanders out of the picture and return it to the 'warriors.' This is in complete accord with Victor Davis Hanson's commentary on how the West has always turned to its 'warriors' during time of grave wartime peril. The Grants, Shermans,
