In the foreground in heavy black is the standard temperature plot of this planet from the Vostok Ice Core measurements taken from Anarctica. The Vostok readings are considered the standard, even Dr James Hansen can be observed pointing to them in one of his TV appearances, but he uses the Hockey Stick chart to make predictions, Hansen is a member of the carbon warming cult - he should try using the Vostok - far more realistic.

The people who support the belief that mankind is warming the planet have no evidence to support their belief, so they needed to fabricate some evidence. A so-called scientist by the name of Mann and others did the dirty deed. They knew what they wanted before they started their search, they wanted a temperature data set that would have an average plot of going sideways for nine hundred years and then in 1900 AD turn upward sharply to form the blade of a hockey stick.

In their search they settled on the data set of tree ring readings from the Bristlecone Pine tree of Southwest United States. These readings had a plot that did go sideways from 1000 AD to 1900 AD, but after 1900 AD the plot did not go up sharply, instead the plot merely continued to go sideways, so they used Cut & Paste and snipped the tree ring plot at 1900 and replaced the last hundred years with part of a different set of readings that happened to be going up in 1900 AD. This action by Mann and company should test your logic. If it is valid to use the tree ring readings from 1000 AD to 1900 AD then it should follow that it is valid to continue using these same tree ring readings from 1900 to 2000 AD. OR - if the readings from 1900 to 2000 should not be used then it follows that the reading from 1000 to 1900 should also not be used. Anyway you slice it, this Hockey Stick chart proves itself to be invalid.

There are other reasons why the chart should not be considered in this carbon warming debate. The chart does not show other well known events like the Medieval Warm Period of 1603 AD nor the Little Ice Age, but that did not stop Al Gore from using this very piece of frabicated falsehood as his only evidence to support his movie `An Inconvenient Truth', nor did it stop the UN from using this Hockey Stick joke in their Third Assessment Report on Global Climate. These people were more than willing to embrace the Hockey Stick chart because finally they had something to support their pre-concocted beliefs.
