October 30, 2007 - What's New is the addition of carborn dioxide to the Interglacial Chart. The green plot is carbon dioxide. Please observe that at about 6000 BC, carbon dioxide started to rise up and continued to rise for the next eight thousand years, this is the first footprint of man-made carbon dioxide. Man-made carbon dioxide has been rising for eight thousand years while temperature, the black plot, is merely fluctuating up and down while going sideways if not going slightly down. Carbon dioxide is clearly going up, if it is such a factor in the temperature of this planet. then why isn't temperature also going up accordingly? The climate clowns keep telling us that temperatures are going to rise very high in the next fifty to one hundred years due to the current rise of carbon dioxide, but in the last eight thousand years, temperatures have not risen - it's not going to happen, temperatures are not going to rise due to man-made carbon. In eight thousand years of rising man-made carbon dioxide there is no positive observation in the real world that supports the contentions of the climate clowns.
The Placement and Size of the CO2 Plot:
The placement and size of the carbon dioxide plot was determined by the following method: I took the lowest reading of CO2 during the bottom of the last ice age and placed it on the same horizontal line as the lowest reading of temperature, also during the bottom of the last ice age. Then I took the reading of the first peak of carbon dioxide, point B on chart, in the current interglacial period and placed it on the same horizontal line of the first peak of temperature, point A on chart, also in the current interglacial period. This is the only correct way to plot carbon dioxide and temperature on the same chart - they both start on the same line, they both end on the same line, and they both rise the same distance on the chart from ice age to interglacial period. This placement turns out to be the best way for us to see the relationship between temperature and carbon dioxide - which comes first? - which lags the other?
April 11, 2007 - What's New This Interglacial Chart is what is new. During this recent rush to judgement by Al Gore and the rest of the climate clowns from government and the media, I find it necessary to present an enlarged chart of only the Interglacial Warm Period. This chart should clearly show to anyone that our current rise in temperature is not unusual, but instead it is normal and natural and to be expected after the Little Ice Age.
Please observe that the current rise of temperature, 1880 to 2006, is in line with all the other rises of temperature that have happened in the last ten thousand years and while it is a high rise, it is not as high as four other high rises of temperature including the Medieval Warm Period of 1603 AD. The chart that Al Gore and company are using has been concocted by voodoo math so that the current rise of temperature will appear to be much higher than any other temperature rise. Besides, their chart, the Mann Hockey Stick Chart, does not include the Medieval Warm Period nor the Little Ice Age, two well established climate events.
You be the judge and answer this question:
Does the last rise in temperature look unusual or does it look like it is merely the latest up fluctuation?
You will be making a positive observation in the real world. This is all one needs to do in order to determine the right or wrong of the current question of man-made warming of the planet - you don't need to be a super-duper climate person to understand this issue better than the climate clowns.
The failing of the Carbon Climate Clowns:
They cannot tell the difference between what is normal and what is unusual - the current rise of temperature is normal, the current rise of carbon dioxide is unusual, the planet would still have this current rise of temperature even if there was no rise in carbon dioxide, no one has the right to claim that the normal is caused by the unusual. Any heat caused by the greenhouse effect of carbon is mixed with all the other heat which then gets reduced by the many storms on this planet, yes, storms like hurricanes are giant cooling machines, they take energy in the form of heat and convert it into kinetic energy. An air conditioner merely takes heat from one place and moves it somewhere else, a hurricane erases heat and leaves the planet cooler. No climate model can possibly keep track of all the cooling being done by all the storms happening all the time on this planet.
Much is being said these days about Global Warming, Carbon Dioxide, and the possible relationship between the two, it has become an issue. The best way to observe this relationship and to get a grip on this issue is to study a chart that has them both plotted side by side, not separate charts on the same piece of paper, but together like they were joined at the hips. Any chart must treat them both with fairness, that is, give them equal representation. This can be done by having them both start on the same horizontal line, use the same time scale, and have the rise in inches of one equal the rise of the other for at least half the chart so as to establish a ratio between the two. This can best be seen with an example. The chart above contains the plots of both Temperature and Carbon Dioxide. A ratio has been established between the two such that they both have equal representation on the chart. I will explain how this was done.
How I plot Global Warming Temperature and Carbon Dioxide on the same chart. I start them both on the same line and allow them both to rise the same number of inches on the chart. The black zig-zag plot is temperature in F degrees - Green curve is carbon dioxide in parts-per-million (ppm). Point (H) is the lowest recorded temperature of the last Ice Age, 40.30šF in 22,363 BC. Point (J) is the lowest recorded level of carbon dioxide of the last Ice Age, 184.4 ppm in the year 19,726 BC. I placed both of these lows on the same line and called that line the Bottom Red Line, there is also a Top Red Line.
Point (I) is the highest recorded temperature in this Interglacial Warm Period, 60.91šF in 6,135 BC. Point (K) is the highest recorded level of carbon dioxide before 1750 AD, 283.9 parts per million (ppm) in the year 1196 AD (Law Dome). These two highs make up the Top Red Line.
The range between these two Red Lines is 20.61šF and 99.5 ppm. I adjusted the scale of carbon dioxide so that 99.5 ppm would have the same vertical distance on the chart as 20.61šF. This is the only proper way to place two curves on the same chart so that both curves will have the same representation and so we can honestly observe the relationship between the two. This same ratio of 20.61:99.5 is valid to use as we continue plotting temperature and carbon dioxide readings after the year 1750 AD and until the end of this current Interglacial Warm Period, which may not end for twenty thousand years.
That big spike up of the CO2 green line after 1750 AD is not an exaggeration. It is to scale according to the ratio between the rise of Global Warming and the rise of Carbon Dioxide in the period from the last ice age to 1750 AD.
Everything I have said can be checked by anyone who is willing to do a little research and plot temperature and carbon dioxide together. You are free to pick different highs and lows for temperature and carbon dioxide, your plots will be similar to these plots. I list near the end of this page the sources of the data used in this first chart and some of the other charts to follow:
For sanity we need to examine these two events: Historically, carbon dioxide follows the lead of temperature, if temperature rises, carbon dioxide after lagging behind will also rise. For example, from its low in the last ice age, temperature rose about twenty degrees Fahrenheit to become our Interglacial Warm Period, which we are now enjoying. Carbon dioxide followed the lead of temperature and rose ninety parts per million (ppm) by the time it reached the Interglacial Warm Period. Since then man-made carbon dioxide has added another ninety ppms to the CO2 level, most of that in the last two hundred years. Temperatures on the other hand have been going sideways for the last eight thousand years while at the same time fluctuating up and down in a range of between fifty-five and sixty F degrees. The point to be taken here is that temperatures have stayed in the same range while carbon dioxide has doubled its rise since they both entered the Interglacial Warm Period - if CO2 is supposed to have an influence on temperature, then why is temperature not rising accordingly while CO2 is going up like a rocket to the moon. This is clear proof that carbon dioxide has no influence on global temperatures, this is a positive observation taken in the real world. The global carbon-warming people do not have any positive observations in the real world. Their world is their computer models which is a world of garbage-in garbage-out.
The current rise in temperature is normal and natural, it is merely the latest up fluctuation of the continuing sideways movement of global temperatures. An up or down fluctuation takes at least one hundred year, but not more than three hundred years. This current rise is 240 years old, so we are due for a change of direction. We may already have hit the peak that marks the end of this current warm spell. According to the Hadley Observatory, land only temperatures hit a peak in February of 1998 of 59.66šF. Since then they have pulled back and are now going sideways between 57š and 59šF. Time will tell if 1998 was the turning point.
If 1998 turns out to be the peak of this up fluctuation in temperature then this warm spell will be close in size to the last one, the 1603 Medieval Warm Period. The polar bears made it through that warm spell, so they should be able to live through this current warm spell.
